When peace rules

Christmas holidays cause me to search high and low for a moment where I can escape the successive turkey dinners and the hours of work in a pig barn for a moment of stillness. A thousand years ago, perhaps the Jews were longing for rest in the midst of the census and the Roman’s rule. We’re just humans and some crazy circumstances might just be part of the long foretold prophecies: a census causing a “ruler in Israel” to come out of Bethlehem or “nation will rise against nation” as a sign of Jesus’ return (Micah 5:2; Matthew 24:7). Peace is not a product of circumstance, but of position. In a stable in Bethlehem, Peace was born midst chaos. Today Peace sits on His throne in my heart, unmoved by my surrounding situations. My position is in Him. Who would not want the Prince of Peace Himself as ruler of the heart?
